If you've been looking for ultra-mini quilt patterns for fabric cards, here are some books with small-scale designs.

Fabric greeting cards and postcards have gained quite a following in recent years. As interest has grown in these ultra-mini quilts, publishers have released a number of books on the subject. These helpful titles feature small-scale quilt patterns specifically for these mini projects. Here are a few titles that crafters and quilters will find to be very helpful.

Fast Fun and Easy Fabric Postcards-Keepsakes You Can Make and Mail by Franki Kohler was released by C & T Publishing. This useful title features six projects with four additional versions of each for a total of 30 cards. Those new to fabric postcards will find this title is especially helpful. Kohler walks you through every step of the process by explaining each technique with complete, color-illustrated instructions.

The author gives a list of what you will need for each project with specific details on how to construct and complete the design. These cards include themes to suit a variety of tastes. They feature a range of fun techniques from machine and hand embroidery to collage and computer-printed vintage family photos. The author suggests all sorts of trims that can be used to embellish the completed card.

Clever Banners, Panels, and Postcards by Mary Mayne was published by the American Quilters Society. This invaluable guide has appliqué patterns for eight delightful postcards and mini-panels that can be combined to create wonderful banners and wall hangings that the author calls postcard quilts. This book includes 60 full size appliqué pattern pieces along with a folk art alphabet. Among these projects are seasonal ones for Halloween and Christmas.

The author gives complete, color-illustrated, step-by-step directions, and full size pattern pieces for each card and panel. The introduction contains details on all the basic techniques that are used along with instructions on how to finish the cards if you plan on mailing them. Along with whimsical farm scenes and coastal landscapes are irresistible garden flowers.

Fabric Cards by Bridget Gazlay was published by Indigo House, an imprint of Grace Publications. This helpful book offers multiple versions of each fabric greeting card with a total of 20 projects.

Each project includes a list of the materials and supplies, full size appliqué pieces, layouts with simple, easy to follow instructions. These designs can also be used to make postcards as well as greeting cards.

The introduction has illustrated, easy to follow directions for all the techniques used with fabric greeting cards. These projects are made with Heat’ n’ Bond iron-on adhesive.
