These sewing and quilt books feature garden quilts, place mats, and other projects with garden-related motifs.

Bring the garden indoors with garden-inspired sewing projects. Those who sew can decorate with all sorts of garden motifs. Here are reviews of several garden-related sewing books.

Delightful Quilts in Bloom

Gardeners who quilt will love this title by Mary Ross and Barbara Scheu. This was published by the American Quilter’s Society. It features seven, irresistible, appliquéd garden quilts that gladden the heart.

This has a full-size bed quilt project with twelve, vibrant flower blocks. These are surrounded by lattice-like sashing and borders appliquéd with vines. The other projects include five wall quilts and a table runner.

For each appliquéd garden quilt, this includes full color patterns and placement guides. There are handy tables listing the fabrics you’ll need and cutting instructions.

This has complete, easy to follow, illustrated directions for every step from choosing fabric and appliquéing the blocks to assembling the quilt top.

A Black and White Garden

Released by the American Quilter’s Society, this title is by Kay M. Capps Cross. It has garden quilt projects to suit every décor. Flowers, foliage, and vines are beautifully displayed on black and white backgrounds. These are created with quick and easy, fusible appliqués and simple strip piecing.

The eleven projects include table runners and bed quilts as well as throws and wall hangings.

These quilts depict various aspects of gardening from tiled garden paths and neat rows in vegetable gardens to wildflower meadows and freshly cut flowers in vases.

This title has detailed, simple and easy, color illustrated directions. There are tips on choosing your fabrics with a list of what you will need. For each project, this has cutting charts and instructions for sewing, appliquéing, and finishing the quilt.

This book features full size appliqué pattern pieces and paper piecing templates for those projects that are foundation pieced.

Tabletop Gardens - Appliqué Place Mats with Napkin Pockets

By Pam Bono, this is from Leisure Arts. These delightful sewing projects feature a number of garden themes. They include freshly picked, luscious garden veggies and fruits as well as perky pansies and other garden flowers. As the title indicates, each of these cleverly designed place mats has a special pouch for the napkin.

The six designs use simple appliqués and easy piecing techniques. For each project, there are easy to follow, step by step directions from start to finish. It has lists of everything you’ll need along with placement charts for the appliqués.

This title includes full-size appliqué patterns and general instructions for all the techniques, including how to cut and apply the appliqués.

In the appendix is a metric conversion chart.

Quilted Garden Delights-Make Your Quilts Bloom

This wonderful new garden quilt title was released by C & T Publishing. It is by a mother-daughter duo, Holly Knott (daughter) and Diane Knott (mother). Holly transformed Diane’s original art into precious garden quilt designs.

This has eight, simple and easy appliqué patterns. For these quick projects, the appliquéing and quilting is done in one time-saving step.

These exquisite wall hangings feature a number of gardening motifs from bird houses and herbs to garden produce, garden baskets, and garden posies.

For each project, there’s a handy chart showing what materials/supplies you’ll need, tips on choosing fabrics, complete cutting charts, and appliqué designs. Full-size pattern pieces are printed on a tear-out sheet.

The introduction covers all the basic techniques and the tools/aids required. There are directions for adding borders, applying appliqués, selecting suitable stitches, and finishing the quilt.
