Simple Stitches are Very Effective

Just a few simple stitches are required to create beautiful works of embroidery.

A neighbor recently showed me a table cloth that her grandmother had embroidered many years ago. It was a beautiful item, much too good to put on a table and have tea split over it! The time and effort that was put into this was truly impressive and, even if it is not for every day use, it is a lovely heirloom to have.

Even though it was a wonderful piece of work, on close inspection it actually used only a few basic stitches. Using some simple embroidery stitches a handstitched look can be given to a variety of table linen such as napkins and table runners. This gives a handcrafted look to the table, without entailing months of work.
