» Feature Writer Kate Pullen - ...just saying 'hello'

Welcome to the new Sewing and Needlework forum. Being newly relaunched it's going to be a bit quiet around here whilst we build up a community - however do leave a message and say 'hello' - it's nice to know who else is reading this!

This forum is available for any of the Sewing and Needlework readers to post questions or comments about anything related to these wonderful crafts, be it cross stitch, embroidery, quilting, sewing clothes.....

To post a message simply register (if you aren't registered with Suite101 already) and start typing! If you would like to start a new topic then press the 'start new topic' text part way down the page.

I look forward to 'meeting' you.

Can you tell me the easiest type of needle work for a beginner, unfortunaely of an age where close up work is difficult.

Thank you.

Thankyou for your interesting question. I guess that it depends on what your interest is, as needlework is such a big subject! For decorative work, cross stitch and tapestry are enjoyable. When working in a good light and maybe with a magnifying aid can be quite accessible. Start with a small project to gain experience and confidence before embarking on something too challenging!

I wonder if any other readers have any ideas or recommendations for a good project for someone starting out? Do share your ideas here.
